A SCOTTISH pop-up has taken to the web to run a blindfolded food and drink tasting fundraising competition.

The Sense 5 project, which raises money for those who are sensory impaired, was due to run a live collaboration with Glasgow Distillery Company in Mayze tomorrow in aid of Deafblind Scotland.

When the event was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the team decided to take the fundraiser to the web – with a twist.

Sense 5’s Laura Murphy and Andrew Haston will be blindfolded and fed five items of food and five different drinks and must guess as many correct items as possible.

Entrants who guess the winner and number of items correctly can win a bottle of Glasgow Distillery Company’s Makar Glasgow Gin, one of the many bottles the distillery has currently put on hold producing in replacement for hand sanitiser.

The distillery’s CEO and co-founder, Liam Hughes, said: “Over the next eight weeks the Scotch Whisky Association and the Scotch distilling industry will have made in excess over 50 million litres of hand sanitiser in total to add to the fight against coronavirus. We.just want to help in any way we can.

Sense 5 managing director, Laura Murphy admitted: “I am a little nervous for what will be put in front of me to eat or drink for the public’s entertainment.”

Entry to the competition costs £5. See www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sense5
